We are beyond excited to announce that Mirada’s highly anticipated 15-acre lagoon will begin filling this summer! With this being said, Mirada residents and guests can now expect to enjoy the lagoon amenity as early as the end of this year! Upon completion, Mirada’s lagoon will be the largest man-made lagoon in the United States. So, how did we get to this point? Keep reading to find out what exactly goes into creating a lagoon and what current and future Mirada residents can expect as far as process and upkeep.
How long will it take to fill?
Now that the lagoon’s durable liner has been installed and pressure tested, we can officially begin the filling process! Mirada’s lagoon will contain about 33 MILLION gallons of water and should take about 45 days to fill up. During this time, the team working on the lagoon will be vigilant in removing debris and rinsing out any sediment that might make its way into the water. The liner and walls will also be consistently washed to ensure the water stays clear and sparkling.
How deep is the lagoon?
The lagoon at Mirada will be deepest at 15 feet! It is here that the larger lagoon attractions, like the soon-to-be obstacle course, will be located. The deepest point of the lagoon will also serve as an area for scuba certification classes!
How will it be cleaned?
The cleaning process that will be regularly performed on the lagoon is the same type of technology that is used in water treatment facilities. We are proud to say that the water that will be found in Mirada’s lagoon will be extremely safe and well maintained. In fact, of our Lagoon experts stated: ”This will be the safest and cleanest water you’ll ever jump into!” Mirada’s lagoon will have a 12-ft wide cleaning cart controlled by GPS that will be operated remotely by a staff technician to clean the bottom of the lagoon regularly.
What’s to come?
Now that the liner has been installed and tested, the next step will be putting in place the necessary utilities to start filling the lagoon! Outside of the lagoon, you can already see the 31-acre amenity area surrounding the lagoon taking shape. Construction of the registration building, restrooms, filtration building, 3-story waterslide, splash pad, island and cabana areas are all currently underway.
